The Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) has elected 30 new Fellows in 2021, including Professor Kyoung Mu Lee.

KAST nominates scientists and engineers who have been active in science and technology for more than 20 years and have contributed significantly to the development of the field by producing leading research results as Fellows through a three-step review.

In particular, 10 representative papers by each candidate are mainly assessed, focusing on excellence and originality of research achievements, academic influence, and contribution.

Tenure of the newly elected Fellows has started from January 1st this year.

Min-Koo Han, head of the KAST, said, “KAST Fellows are role models of academic excellence in Korean scientific research. Therefore, we reflect characteristics of diverse academic fields and select Fellows based on their active participation, contributions to academy and industry, as well as human resources development.”

The ceremony was held on June 15th, 2021, at THE PLAZA Seoul, Korea. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing, only the Fellows were invited to the ceremony. The ceremony has been live-streamed via YouTube and can be replayed from the link below.
